Alan Menken

Distinguished composer/lyricist Alan Menken is responsible for penning many of the catchiest tunes from Disney features of the late '80s onward, including such chart-toppers as "Whole New World" (from Aladdin) and "Colors of the Wind" (Pocahontas). Early on in his career, his brief partnership with lyricist Howard Ashman (until Ashman's death in 1991) produced such film-musical classics as Little Shop of Horrors (1986), The Little Mermaid (1989), and Beauty and the Beast (1991).
