Alan Shorter

Wayne Shorter's trumpet playing older brother had neither the talent nor the success of his legendary sibling. Alan Shorter was a somewhat limited trumpeter player whose work could nevertheless be affecting. More than Wayne, Alan traveled in free jazz circles. He played on Archie Shepp's classic Four for Trane (Impulse! , 1965), as well as Wayne's The All Seeing Eye (Blue Note, 1965), and a few lesser-known sessions in the '60s before fading from view.
