Black Duck

Consisting of three longtime staples of Chicago's experimental music scene, Black Duck's improvisation-based sound flows between rootsy melodicism and free-form exploration. The trio of guitarist/bassist Douglas McCombs, guitarist Bill MacKay, and drummer Charles Rumback released Black Duck, an instrumental debut fusing jazz spontaneity with rural psychedelia, in 2023. Bill MacKay has performed with Douglas McCombs (co-founder of Tortoise, Brokeback, and Pullman) in several bands, including guest appearances in Eleventh Dream Day, whom McCombs has played bass for since 1985. ...
