John Robert Hill, Jr., known as BOONK or Boonk Gang, began releasing rap singles shortly after becoming an online celebrity in 2017. Based in Los Angeles but originally from Florida, Hill started a Twitter account and YouTube channel at the beginning of the year, but achieved far more notoriety for his Instagram account, launched soon afterwards.
