Charles Sheffield was an early-'60s R&B singer from Lake Charles, LA, noted for the local/regional hit "It's Your Voodoo Working," which is acclaimed more now than when it debuted on Excello Records in 1961. Sheffield (aka Mad Dog) was miscast in his birthplace, which is known for producing zydeco musicians, not blues or R&B artists. Boozoo Chavis and Rockin' Sidney are from the area, as well as Goldband Studios, where the zydeco artists whack out their craft.
