Chris Bangs is a London-based DJ, record producer, and electronic artist. He is credited with being the first to coin the term "acid jazz" in 1987. At the time, most of the U.K.'s youthful club-going public were under the spell of acid house's propulsive 4/4 beat. However, alongside Gilles Peterson, Bangs continued to cater to London's rare groove fans who hankered for soulful tunes with funky beats.
