Daniel Hoffman has been playing violin since the age of seven. He is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Raphael Bronstein. Hoffmann discovered klezmer music while still developing his own musical voice, and after a year in Israel increased his interest in Jewish and Middle Eastern culture, he started combining Arabic rhythms and klezmer melodies. He plays this music in the Bay Area group Davka (with a 1999 release on Tzadik).
