The project of singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Matthew Doty, Deserta finds the sweet spot between synth pop and shoegaze. With 2020's Black Aura My Sun, Doty introduced his reverb-laden, ethereal style -- which evoked M83 as much as Slowdive or Mogwai -- then refined it with 2022's Every Moment, Everything You Need.
