The roots of indie pop duo Donovan Blanc began with the group Honeydrum. Based in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Honeydrum was the recording project of Joseph Black and Raymond Schwab who issued a total of nine EPs between 2011 and 2013. Near the end of that time, the band's focus began to sharpen, developing into the lush, Mellotron- and guitar-led indie pop that would become the sound of Black and Schwab's new venture, Donovan Blanc.
