Coming up in the mid-2010s, releases like Highspeeds and its breakout single, "Slip," utilized minimalist arrangements featuring subtle production tricks and lyrics that often touched on themes of darkness and loss sung in a vocal style that has earned comparisons to Justin Vernon, James Blake, and Thom Yorke.
