Erik Friedlander

Cellist Erik Friedlander is a daring improviser and composer whose music straddles jazz, the avant-garde, experimental rock, and classical. He first garnered attention for his work in the New York downtown scene of the 1980s, recording with John Zorn on the Tzadik label, including with the Masada Trio and Bar Kokhba. He has also worked closely with other boundary-pushing artists, including Dave Douglas, Marty Ehrlich, and Myra Melford.
