Biography
Indie soul outfit Ginger Root is the solo project of singer/multi-instrumentalist Cameron Lew, who puts a quirky spin on throwback R&B, disco, and pop. Ginger Root debuted with 2017's Spotlight People and had delivered its third album, Rikki, by 2020. Along with his Toaster Music covers series, Lew draws upon his love of '80s Japanese city pop, as on 2021's City Slicker EP and 2022's Nisemono EP. Ginger Root's fourth long-player, the 2024 concept album SHINBANGUMI, continued to dial up the grooves and whimsy for the project's Ghostly debut.
