Indie rockers Girl Friday incorporate elements of '90s alt-rock, the jangle pop of the Bangles, punk, and more into their hooky, alienated songs. Their first album, Androgynous Mary, arrived in 2020.
Girl Friday took root when guitarist Vera Ellen was visiting a friend at UCLA and heard Libby Hsieh playing bass on the couch. Drawn to her style, Ellen introduced herself, and the two were soon playing together regularly.
