The formation of US rock band the Hellcats came as a direct result of the dissolution of their better-remembered forebears, Starz. Both Michael Lee Smith (vocals) and Richie Ranno (guitar) had been integral members of that group, and formed Hellcats in the early 80s with the assistance of Peter Scance (bass) and Doug Madick (drums), recruited from Prism.
