Heroes of Toolik

Heroes of Toolik are a supergroup featuring several veterans of the New York City alternative and avant-garde music scenes. Their music blends their experimental sensibilities with rootsy instrumentation (including accordion and fiddle) and lyrics that can be both wry and heartfelt. They were formed in 2011 by guitarist/vocalist Arad Evans (Glenn Branca, Rhys Chatham) and ex-Modern Lovers bassist Ernie Brooks, along with Television drummer Billy Ficca, trombonist Peter Zummo (Arthur Russell, Lounge Lizards), and vocalist/violinist Jennifer Coates.
