Jean-Louis Matinier

b. Borges, France. Classically trained but a jazz musician by choice, Matinier's principal instrument is the accordion. Although appropriate for a Paris-based musician, the accordion is quite uncommon in both classical music and jazz. Drawing his repertoire from both of these fields of music, the result is best described as world music but there are also vigorous dashes of southern European folk music.
