New Age composer John Adorney began studying music at age nine -- although his first instrument was the cello, within two years he'd also acquired a guitar, profoundly influenced by the Beatles and the British Invasion they launched. He additionally learned the piano, and went on to study classical music at the University of Connecticut; a tenure with an ethnic dance troupe followed before Adorney relocated to Denver during the late 1970s, becoming a fixture of the local folk circuit.
