When Chumped went on indefinite hiatus at the end of 2015, founding members Anika Pyle and Dan Frelly formed the two-piece Katie Ellen. Named after Pyle's grandmother -- a prominent Denver, Colorado radio host who was sued by her station after using the name without their consent -- the duo wasted no time in touring and releasing their first demo EP, Wild Heart. Channeling the power pop of Teenage Fanclub and the crunchy punk of their previous band, the release caught the ear of Jeff Rosenstock, who championed the demo on his own donation-based online label Quote Unquote.
