La Maison Tellier were founded in Normandie in 2004 by Helmut Tellier and Raoul Tellier (aka Yannick Marais and Sebastien Miel), who were quickly joined by numerous other musicians to form a wider false brotherhood whose name winks at Guy de Maupassant's short story La Maison Tellier.
