Joshua Mbewe, better known as Laxcity, makes expressive, intricately detailed downtempo electronic music. Filled with crisp drums, mysterious voices, and imaginative sound design, the songs on releases such as 2018's Catharsis are healing and comforting while reflecting a wide range of turbulent emotions. Mbewe was born in Zambia and moved to England when he was nine years old. He started playing drums and keyboards in his church when he was young and later began making electronic music on his computer.
