Lino Borges was a celebrated Cuban bolero singer. Born in the countryside village of Batabonó in 1933, even as a child he used to sing while working the fields. By the time he turned 16 he had managed to become a professional singer for small orchestras. Over the next two decades Borges sang with outfits such as Universal, Melena del Sur, Casablanca, Casino, Rumbavana, and especially Conjunto Saratoga, ultimately going solo in the 1960s.
