Mexican sextet Los Marineros del Norte emerged in the mid-'90s playing norteño songs, the waltz-inflected folk music style from south-the-border comprising a mix of polka, cumbia, tejano, and country music. Amorcito Norteño and No Te Convenzas became their local breakthroughs. ~ Drago Bonacich
