Lovejoy's ethereal indie pop is steeped in rainy-day reflection. The band emerged in the early 2000s with a melancholy sound that flirted with dream pop while remaining tethered to the earth on releases like Songs in the Key of…Lovejoy (2000) and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (2002), a sophomore LP inspired by a contempt for the rise of consumerism, even in the escape of television. The band went on a long hiatus after 2005's Everybody Hates Lovejoy but returned nearly 20 years later with the still bittersweet …And It's Love! in 2024.
