Mastiff are an extreme metal act from Hull in the U.K. Their filthy sound contains elements of sludge and doom metal shot through with industrial post-hardcore and crust punk. Self-described as "a miserable band from a miserable town," their nihilistic fury revealed itself in songs from their 2016 debut album, Wrank, and 2019's Plague, describing the horrors human beings inflict on themselves and one another through violence, addiction, and abuse. Leave Me the Ashes of the Earth followed in 2021 and explored themes of overconsumption and environmental destruction.
