Fleshing out soft-spoken, distorted guitar atmospheres with instruments like keyboards and mallet percussion, Mia Joy debuted her dreamy indie tunes on the full-length Spirit Tamer in 2021. It included a cover of Arthur Russell's "Our Last Night Together." According to her mother, Mia Joy Rocha sang herself to sleep as a baby.
