Biography

Violinist Miranda Cuckson focuses on contemporary music and has had music written for her by an unusually wide range of composers, from Philip Glass to Luigi Nono. She is also a significant educator. Cuckson (pronounced "Cookson") was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1972 but grew up in the U.S. and has lived for most of her life in that country. She entered a youth program at the Juilliard School in New York at the age of nine and stayed at Juilliard through bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.
