Not to be confused with the Swedish band Naglfar, Aachen, Germany's Nagelfar were founded in 1993 by guitarist Zorn and drummer Alexander von Meilenwald, sharing only their mutual interest in black metal and a name based on the "wraith ferry" described in Norse mythology. After sharpening their sound on a couple of demos and adding vocalist Jander and bassist Sveinn, Nagelfar recorded their first full-length album, Hünengrab Im Herbst, in 1997, with hometown hero Andy Classen of Holy Moses fame acting as producer.
