Born in northern Switzerland in 1958, Niki Reiser is a musician and composer best known for his scores to German-language films. With a background in classical flute, he studied film scoring at the Berklee School of Music in the early '80s, followed by further study of composition in Basel, Switzerland. He began earning film credits by the mid-'80s, a time that also saw him tour as flutist with his jazz ensemble, People, and begin to write and perform with the klezmer band Kol Simcha.
