Biography

The northernmost orchestra in Finland, the Oulu Symphony Orchestra has a substantial recording catalog of mostly Finnish works. The group has attracted major conductors and guest conductors from beyond Finland. The roots of the Oulu Symphony Orchestra (Finnish: Oulu Sinfonia) date back as far as 1856, when a group of musicians tried to establish a permanent orchestra in Oulu, far to the north on Finland's west coast.
