Amsterdam-born producer and cellist Pieter Perquin began creating music as a child, and was particularly influenced by classical, jazz, and hip-hop. He started Unexpected Records in 2001 while he was still a teenager, and released his instrumental debut EP, Outta Nowhere, featuring saxophone improvisations by Benjamin Herman, the same year.
