At the age of six, Peter Orth was inspired to take up the piano after seeing Artur Rubinstein in recital. He began studying with Benjamin Whitten in Philadelphia, and later studied with Adele Marcus at the Juilliard School. Following graduation, he was invited by Rudolf Serkin to take part in the Marlboro Festival and to attend the Institute for Young Performing Musicians in Guilford, Vermont.
