It usually takes many years for artists to build up a reputation that will allow them to take liberties in where and what they perform, and even then, there are few who are willing to perform as many diverse works in one season as cellist Pieter Wispelwey does. Wispelwey's large recording catalog, dating back to the early '90s, is as diverse as his performances. Wispelwey was born on September 25, 1962, in Haarlem in the Netherlands.
