PVD stands for Pat Van Dyke, a producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist whose primary instrument, the drums, underscores his rhythmic approach. The Jersey City native's original works blend jazz, funk, and beats into quasi-electronica instrumentals with a strong retro flavor that incorporates vintage keys and acoustic instruments like horns and woodwinds. His 2005 PVD debut LP, Down for the Get Down, featured instrumentals with a stronger soul-jazz flavor.
