Along with Speedy West, Buddy Emmons, and Pete Drake, Ralph Mooney was one of the true steel guitar innovators in country music. He was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, and first became interested in the instrument after hearing another steel pioneer, Leon McAuliffe.
