Texas-bred, Seattle-based indie folk luminary Rocky Votolato came to prominence in the late 1990s as the frontman for Washington emo-punk outfit Waxwing. He began releasing solo material in 1999, trading the sturm und drang of his flagship group for a more nuanced and reflective sound.
