Under the alias Scott Hardware, Toronto-based experimental songwriter Scott Harwood makes dreamy, melancholic sounds rooted in both celebratory dance music and cinematic pop. His albums have often reflected deep cultural fixations, with 2020's Engel being inspired by Wim Wenders' darkly beautiful 1987 film Wings of Desire. His 2022 album Ballad of a Tryhard experienced a significant overhaul in style, moving from free-floating songcraft to more fully realized arrangements.
