Similar in style to Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, and Bel Canto -- female-fronted alternative bands with prominent new age influences -- Australia's Single Gun Theory were formed in the mid-'80s by Jacqui Hunt, Kath Power, and Pete Rivett-Carnac. The trio's first album, Exorcise This Wasteland, was released in Australia in 1987. Later that year, Single Gun Theory gained a deal with the Canadian label Nettwerk, which issued the LP that November.
