West Coast rapper Slow Pain started beatboxing in 1992 with Street Mentality, a gangsta rap group who eventually landed a deal with BMG. Street Mentality, Slow Pain, LiL-V, and Bandit toured with Southern Latin hip-hopsters A Lighter Shade of Brown and A.L.T. throughout 1993, yet their debut recording was only mildly successful.
