Specializing in rollicking but slightly shambolic tales of hard living and questionable behavior, the Spider Bags are led by guitarist and songwriter Dan McGee, whose music mixes the floppy fury of punk with the beery emotional openness of roots music. New Jersey-born McGee founded the band in the early 2000s with longtime friend Gregg Levy, with the group going from a long-distance project into a going concern when McGee left Jersey for Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
