Pan-cultural reggae collective the Sunshiners reunited saxophonist Philippe "Feal" Lerouzic and drummer Gaël "Chewinoo" Chosson, who previously collaborated in the likeminded French group Mister Gang. During a 2001 tour stop on the South Pacific island of Vanuatu, Lerouzic and Chosson befriended local singers Gero Iaviniau, John Kapala, Jake Moses, and Ben Siro.
