A modern blues band that tempers its retro inclinations with a contemporary flair, the California Honeydrops carved out a following on the international blues circuit in the 2010s. When the Honeydrops released their debut, Soul Tub!, in 2008, they specialized in straightforward re-creations of classic blues sounds, spending as much time playing boisterous New Orleans R&B as they did laying back in a West Coast style, but as the 2010s progressed, they synthesized their disparate influences, culminating in the ambitious 2018 double album Call It Home, Vols. 1-2.
