The Original Salty Dogs Jazz Band

One of the Midwestern bands that came out of that Dixieland revival movement of the 1940s, the Original Salty Dogs helped to re-popularize traditional New Orleans and Chicago jazz. Initially a campus band at Purdue, the group garnered wider attention in the '50s and '60s, with LPs New Orleans Shuffle and On the Right Track. They also recorded with Turk Murphy and singer Carol Leigh.
