Thomas Barquee was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1963. At an early age, he studied classical keyboard and piano and became interested in pop music in his teens. Barquee formed his first band, Million Dollar Secret, in the early '90s and released one album, Under the Surface. Following the bands demise, Barquee released a solo album, Long Way to Go, which scored a European hit with "Girls Talk."
