A versatile singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Boise, Idaho, Trevor Powers began making dreamy, vulnerable neo-psychedelic pop under the moniker Youth Lagoon in 2010. Six years and three albums later, he announced the end of the project and began recording under his own name. His first release as Trevor Powers, an album of fractured, noisy avant-pop titled Mulberry Violence, arrived in 2018. He altered his sound further with 2021's Capricorn, a short album of haunting electronic instrumentals.
