Wishing to balance metal's masculine precision with more feminine-inspired atmospheres and emotions, Vaura features singer/guitarist Josh Strawn, guitarist Kevin Hufnagel, bassist Toby Driver, and drummer Charlie Schmid. The members' pedigrees reflect different but complementary approaches to dark and heavy music: Strawn and Schmid come from the dramatic rock outfit Religious to Damn, while Hufnagel has played with Dysrhythmia, Gorguts, and Jarboe, and Driver has worked with Kayo Dot and Tartar Lamb.
