Waaju

Britain's Waaju blend jazz and Afro-Latin traditions into their own unique sound. Following their 2018 eponymous debut, they gained wider attention with 2020's Grown and their 2024 concert album with Moroccan guitarist Majid Bekkas, Alouane. Hailing from London, Waaju formed around 2018 and features tenor saxophonist Sam Rapley, guitarist Tal Janes, bassist Joe Downard, drummer Ben Brown, and percussionist/conguero Ernesto Marichales.
