Taking grimy punk and metal influences and twisting them into something psychedelically sinister, Southern California band Warish debuted in 2019 with a brief five-song EP, followed by the full-length Next to Pay in 2021. An initial wave of press rarely failed to note that guitarist/vocalist Riley Hawk was the son of professional skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, but the band's mesh of stoner sludge riffs, horror punk imagery, and effect-heavy vocals stood on its own.
