Based in Brooklyn, New York, William Parker is the pre-eminent bassist in modern free jazz. He has released more than 150 titles under his own name and played on hundreds more as a sideman and collaborator. Parker, who is also a poet, painter, and essayist, co-founded the Improvisers Collective with renowned dancer, choreographer, poet, and partner Patricia Nicholson.
