In the early 2000s, X27 reminded listeners that punky alternative rock could be discordant, noisy, jagged, and distorted but still be infectious, hooky, and not without a willingness to groove. The trio (which was formed in Chicago) brings a variety of influences to the table; Sonic Youth is a strong influence, as are Lydia Lunch, Teenage Jesus & the Jerks, and various no-wave agitators of the ‘80s.
