twenty ninth, two thousand and twenty four, bed Online put
out odds for the NFL Draft twenty twenty five, and
they put out based on who was going to be
the first overall pick in the draft for this year,
which of course began on Thursday in Green Bay. Fifty

to one was Marvin Jones. Junior. Abdul Carter was forty
to one cam Ward was twenty five to one, Michael
Williams sixteen to one, Jackson Dart fourteen to one, Travis Hunter,
Jaylen Milroe and Drew Aller were twelve to one odds.

James Pierce, who went late in the first round last
night from Tennessee, seven to one. Quinn Ewers was five
to one. He's still waiting to hear his name called.
Carson Beck, who decided to go back to school, was
four to one. Do you want to know who the
odds leader was for the first overall pick in the
twenty twenty five NFL Draft just about a year ago?

Was I bet you already know this at five to
two odds at plus two point fifty, a young man
by the name of Chadeur Sanders. He was the consensus
he will be the number one pick in this draft.
I remember people on this very network as well as

all the other ones, basically saying, whoever was getting the
first pick, you know, they were just gonna the Shadoor Sanders.
It was being talked about. It's like the right to
draft Shadoor Sanders. He was the one everyone was talking
about before last season. So I gotta ask you, because
at this point, unless you're just now, like getting off

an airplane and you've been in the sky all day long,
or you've just you've been in a darkness retreat with
Aaron Rodgers. You probably know this already, but Shadoor Sanders
is still available in the twenty twenty five NFL Draft.
He is now a Day three draft pick. This is, yes,
the worst slide we've ever seen. I can give you

some of the others. I have some of them in
front of me, and I remember most of them. We
almost all do. But usually it's like Aaron Rodgers at
twenty four, or right here in Nashville just a few
years ago, Malik Willis ended up a Titan at number
eighty six, and that was seen as crazy because at
one point he was a top ten, top fifteen kind
of guy. But he was still Malik Willis, like he

wasn't talked about the way Shador was the year ahead
of time, for example, We've never seen anything quite like this.
But why I find this fascinating is the change in
perspective all of a sudden from people that seem to
say one thing about Shudor Sanders four or five months ago,

(03:45):
and now all of a sudden, everyone knew that he
was not first round talent, and of course now apparently
he's not second or third round talent. He was five
to two as the lead in the clubhouse to be
the first overall pick in the draft. So I got
to ask, like, did he forget how to play football

in the last year. I mean, when I watched Colorado,
I thought he was pretty good. This is not a
case of he should have gone above cam Ward. I'm
not making that argument. But I find myself in a
position where I've got to defend shedor Sanders, and I've
been thinking about it all night long. As this continued
to play out, I started reading article after article. Maybe

this can make sense. Explain to me exactly what happened here.
Let me understand. And you know, I was watching various coverages,
and you know, of course I watched a little bit
of the TV coverage or I had it on the background,
but I was watching other analysts that were kind of
diving deeper into what was going on. And I heard
Dame Brugler say of the athletic he was just like,

(04:49):
you know, I had him out of my first round.
And this is why, because pretty much after the season,
everything has taken place in the pre draft process was
a complete disaster, and they didn't He didn't go into
too much detail. I just don't think he wanted to
vilify chuduor that much. But what he said was, you know,
there were a lot of people in the league after
his interview process of the combine and he sat down.

(05:12):
It's like you can't walk into an interview thinking you
have leverage and telling teams this is what I'm gonna
do and this is how it's gonna play out. And
I see, we weren't there, We weren't behind the closed
doors to hear how those things went. But I read
another article that said ten different scouts representing ten different teams,

they just took shaudor Sanders completely off their draft board
after they talked to him. This has got to be
the worst set of interviews anyone has ever done for
you to fall this far. And now it's well, he
wasn't that tall and he wasn't that fast, and there's
a piece over the athletic right now. It's like we
all knew he wasn't first round talent. We did because

I can't go I'm not gonna go back and try
to find the guy's articles from five or six months ago,
but seemed to me he was a shoe in as
a top three to five pick at worst before the
season started. Then he played and Colorado had a pretty
dog on good year, and now all of a sudden
he's still there going into day three. So what exactly
happened here? I mean, I think that there's a lot

(06:17):
of different ways that you can look at this. It
does seem like the pre draft process went sideways for him,
and usually that's not going to be enough to completely
destroy you if you have a bunch of talents. So
I guess when they balance it out, the things that
were knocks were not completely canceled out by the talent.

(06:40):
The talent may have been above average, it may have
been relatively high, but at least to some degree, it
wasn't enough to take on the baggage of Shador Sanders,
because we're looking at some crazy stuff here. It's not
just Jackson Dart, who personally I think you'll be he
might be fine. I don't see a franchise quarterback out

(07:02):
of him. I immediately saw South Palantonio come on television
last night and say that the feeling from Brian Dable
was He reminds him a lot of somebody that he
coached in Buffalo, and he named Josh Allen, and I
was just say, can we please don't even do that
to Jackson Dart, But what are we doing here? Leave
this alone? I feel like Jackson Dart is more likely.

Josh is more active, more He's probably closer to Zach
Wilson than he is Josh Allen. I mean, we're gonna
see good luck to him, nothing against him, because again,
when you look at before odds, he was still like
a fifteen to one pick to be the I think
it was fourteen to one actually to be the first

overall pick. So I mean he was being talked about.
We knew he could play, but then you take Then
you see Tyler Schuck go to the Saints. Tyler Shuck,
who's twenty six years old, my broadcast partner on Saturday
nights where you'll be hearing us pretty much bookending this Saturday,
you hear me, but Aaron Torres, he sent me hit texting,
was just like, do you realize that Tyler Schuck was

in the same high school class of quarterbacks as Trevor Lawrence.
He's twenty six years old, folks, he's a twenty six
year old rookie, and I hear, well he's ready to
play right now because he's twenty Say okay, I mean
there's a lot of twenty six year olds that aren't
ready to play. Maybe he is. I'm baffled by it,

(08:29):
like I'm trying to I'm trying to see both sides
of the issue. If he was that off putting in interviews,
that is astonishing, Like I wish there could have been
one hidden camera so I could see what that actually
looked like, because I have a hard time buying it
third hand from a bunch of people that won't put
their name to anything, and I probably wouldn't either in

this case, because you don't want to make an enemy
out of Shaduur's family. I don't know if you can.
I mean, I don't know whether I should feel bad
for shaduor or I should feel good for him because
humility is going to be better. I have no idea.
I just look at this and say, I watched him
play football and I felt like he played it well.
I thought that even if maybe his floor was lower

than a cam Ward, like I think cam Ward's a
safe pick. I don't know that cam Ward is a
Hall of Famer, But I don't think that cam Ward
is a bust. I don't. If he maximizes his potential,
he could be really, really good. If he doesn't, I
still think he'll probably be average or somewhere in that
neighborhood Shador, it could be a lot more of a
boom or bust situation. I think that might be fair.

But he had an atrocious offensive line at Colorado. He
got beat around too. He got sacked an insane amount
of times over his couple of years there. He's not
as fast, right, so he's not quite as big. He's
like six', two somewhere in that neighborhood or that's what
he's listed. At he's not fast in terms of his
quickness and his twitch ability like A Jaywn. Milrow he's

not going to be somebody that beat you with his.
Athleticism but he is deadly accurate with great. Touch and
now all of a, sudden you, see well he was
wobbly on some short throws at his, workouts and when
we watched the, tape the tape wasn't. Overwhelming well what
tape were you watching five or six months? Ago where
it wasn't that. Way something happened between the end of

the football season and this week that completely shifted everything
About Shador, sanders and it just looks LIKE nfl teams
have decided that whatever that's something, is whatever the skeletons
and the claws that are and the things that maybe
they found out and the things that they witnessed just
made him undraftable because you look AT i, mean The

browns have HAD i don't know how many picks they've,
had but they've had a handful of picks where it's
just go take. HIM i, mean do you really feel
good about your? QUARTERBACK i understand That Shann watson says
that he's on some kind of a revenge tour basically
against his. Haters Need Deshan watson to just stay quiet
and go ahead and have your revenge, tour but don't
come out and say it until you can actually put

together two good games in a. Row if You're cleveland
and you look at your quarterback room and you've HAD
i don't know how many chances to take the guy
and you don't take the, GUY i don't know what to.
SAY i, Mean, dylan you Took Dylan, Gabriel Dylan, gabriel
who was not EVEN i think he was like a
fourth or fifth round graded quarterback on most people's. LIST i,

understand LIKE i liked Watching Dylan gabriel in, college but from,
SOMEBODY i, mean he wasn't even being talked about amongst
the two or three guys Below shadour that was still.
Available he wasn't talked. About and you Took Dylan. Gabriel,
OKAY i, guess But shadur is still sitting there and
you're looking at. It AND i will say, this and

as you watch this draft play, out one part of
this that became more clear than maybe we realized is
that more teams are set at quarterback or they've already
made their bet over the last couple of, years and
there's not that many like open homes for, quarterbacks like
either they've already figured it out in free agency prior

to the, draft or in the last couple of years
they've drafted somebody for you, know like The patriots or The.
Bears like a team like, that like The, bears they're
still trying to figure out exactly what they've got In Caleb.
Williams we'll talk more about The bears a little bit,
later BECAUSE i think they've done a lot for their young.
Quarterback and then you look At Drake may and it's
building Around Drake. May it's not trying to find another.

(12:33):
Replacement brabel knows what he's. Got that's why he wanted that.
Job that and of course his history, there so he's
building it. Up he's getting him some skill. Talent he's
also getting him some line. Help he wants to protect
him and give him every. Shot completely makes. Sense then
you got guys that they haven't quite given up on
yet that maybe they're in a real prove it kind of,
year like A Trevor lawrence for. Example but there's not

a ton of teams in THE nfl they came into
this draft in desperate need of a. Quarterback but those
that did have had multiple. Opportunities and The, steelers ladies and,
GENTLEMEN i still don't know exactly what their plan is
are they just are is The Aaron rodgers? Thing are
we just gonna find out that's a done deal? Now

or BECAUSE i even heard they could they could, draft
they could Draft shador and they could still Bringing Aaron.
Rodgers that sounds like a great IDEA i don't understand
all of, this but there's more to talk about as
it relates To Shador. Sanders and you, KNOW i was
gonna save it for, later BUT i actually Think i'm

gonna stick with. This coming back out of the, break
we are gonna talk plenty Of lakers Tea. Wolves it
was a great game where one team completely ran out
of gas, late that's really the best way to put,
it and one shot the lights out down the stretch
in the fourth, quarter especially from, distance despite a great
game From Lebron. James but this aspect of THE nfl

has decided to Humble Shadoor. Sanders and now you're hearing
all these words about humility and how his arrogance got
the better of him and he needed to be. Humbled
and you see a lot of people AND i was,
watching like the comment feeds on a couple of the
video casts THAT i was watching during the, draft and
most of them seem to be just getting great joy

out Of Shadoor sanders falling in the draft and laughing
at him and saying he's not gonna be drafted and
all this other. Stuff and he needs to be. Humbled
this kid needs to be. HUMBLED i gotta, SAY i
think that's just an awful opinion considering the event that
we are talking. About so we're gonna we're gonna stay With.
Shador we're gonna talk more about that when we come.

i have seen that in comments, sections it's just, like,

heard this for. Weeks i'm not going to say that
that opinion is entirely. False i'm going to say it's.
Dumb and here's Why Shoudour sanders wasn't at the. DRAFT

i think he was going to, be and they pulled,
out which was a smart decision based on the way
things were, trending and it was just better for him
not to for at least to be harder to cut
to cameras of his draft party or what was going,
on as opposed to him being in the green. Room
but we're talking, now it's just, say, oh, well he's got.
This he's, cocky he's not, confident and he's entitled and

this humility. Argument this humble argument needs to be. HUMBLED
i just need. TO i need someone to explain to
me how humble a room full OF nfl draftees is
likely to. Be this isn't to say That Shadoor sanders

Hit it's that he's not. Alone it's singling him out
that that's. Problematic none of the things That i'm about
to throw out here are, like is shade towards any
of these individuals at. ALL i just want to point
a few things out THAT i noticed In day one
of the. Draft while we're all talking about How Shadr

sanders needs to be, Humbled Ashton, genty who got like
glowing recommendations about his character and you know how hardy
worked and all. This, again this is not. Anything this
is not a knock On. Genty it's just the room
That Shador sanders is. In, Figuratively Ashton genty was wearing

diamond crystal studded. Crocs they were all over. Everything you
can find him on the internet everywhere right. Now if
you didn't see it in the, moment you can see.
It they Were swavrovsky, crystals diamond studyed. Crocs Abdul carter
third overall pick out Of Penn state to The. Giants

one of the best players in the, draft no question about.
It could Be Michael parsons For New. York he had
a fully diamond grill that you know as soon as
he smiled you saw. It all these guys are indoors
at night wearing. Sunglasses the suits that we're seeing are

outrageous all night. Long the, clothes the, watches jewelry that
looks like it actually could pull you to the floor
like a. Millstone it's all over the. Place, Again i'm
not at all saying there's anything wrong with. This don't
take this out of context and miss the point. Here

And lamborghini's For Carson beck and the money coming in
with N, il guys leaving work in the transfer portal
to go somewhere else to make more Money nico and
all these other, things the last thing THAT i can

you could really Knock shuduor for is he didn't hide
it as well as some of those. Guys if you

single out the other guy because this is a room
full of people that have worked their rear ends, off
no question about. That but how often have they been
told that they're not? Great how many yes men have

more money than just about anybody listening right now or

The Chaudeur sanders needs to be humbled argument in a
room full of, pride in a room full of real,
confidence in a room full of. Achievement so what exactly
is it About Shadeur sanders that makes it that you

need to single him out and say he needs to be?

in his mouth and this other guy that's taken crocs

going to be incredibly wrong, here like Mel. KUIPER i
have never in my life seen Mel kiper in like
THE i think he even said forty seven years he's
been doing the draft. Coverage however long he's been doing.

IT i have never seen Mel kuiper be this like
different than everything that's happening in the. League like it's
not that he's never been, wrong and he's been catastrophically
wrong at, times but he, said you, know he's fifth
on his, board is his number one. Quarterback he's like

oh he's a shill For, Shadure like, yeah, no Mel

kuiper doesn't. Care Mel kiper's job is to be. Right
his job is to be as accurate as he possibly.
Can there doesn't need to be any, like there doesn't
need to be any handshakes behind closed doors or. Anything
he doesn't need to win any popularity contests when it

it looks like a wonderful room full of wonderful, people

LIKE i cannot tell you anything about. Him like it's

not my job to know every draft prospect like the
back of my, hand like the guys that do it
for a. LIVING i understand. That But Tyler shuck is
not being talked about now all of a, sudden it's
wolf of, course, Man Tyler shuck Is he's the? Truth is?
He here's the? Truth you don't know What Tyler shuck.
Is you have no, Idea and if you're A saints, fan,
HONESTLY i feel like there are More saints fans after

that pick that felt like it was a, mistake that
felt LIKE i wish we had Taken. Shador i'm not
Suggesting chador is going to be A hall of. Famer
BUT i don't know that there is a hall of
famer in this. CLASS i. DON'T i, mean where would
Cam ward have been drafted among the quarterbacks last? Year

where would he have? BEEN i saw at least one
piece of speculation that he would not have been above Bo,
nicks that he still would have been sixth last. Year
i'm A broncos, fan And i'm really happy with Bo,
NICKS i really. Am i'm excited And i'm excited the
way That Sean payton is building around, him the way
this draft is played. Out but if that's the, case

and So Lynn schadour would have been like seventh or
something like that last year or, whatever, like what are
we looking? At a bunch of teams passed On? Shador
And i'm here to tell you again just based on
think about, this, Right, so either this being the greatest
slide that we've ever, seen based on the odds a
year ago that he was going to be the number one,

pick being better than anybody else that was, available and
him still being around On day, three not even in
the top one hundred. Picks if he is, good because
somebody is going to draft, him and he's gonna have
an opportunity then to win the starting job in. Camp
he's gonna have an opportun tunity to actually get on

the field because, eventually when that team drafts, him if
he's good, enough he will get, THERE i. Think and
now he's going to have a massive chip on his
shoulder after. That is he going to be? HUMBLED i don't.
KNOW i have no, Idea but if he's, good show

me a better story than, this show me a more
just kind of wild ride of a story than. This,
yeah you've seen quarterbacks fall to the. Twenties you Saw
Will levis fall to thirty, three and our Own Brady,
quinn he had a fall nowhere near not even as
bad as less not even as bad As Aaron rodgers
the twenty. Four you, know this has happened For Geno smith,

falling but it hasn't ever happened anywhere near this degree
to somebody who was predicted to be What shador was
a year. Ago so either everybody's going to be proven
right in terms of the league that's made its apparently
he made its, decision or this is going to be
an incredible revenge. Story this is gonna be incredible story

of he got passed on and passed on and passed
on for this perceived, thing and this perceived, THING i
saw another thing that said that the interviews were, bad
but also his whiteboard work was. Awful so apparently he
doesn't understand football, Either so that then immediately points the

AND i think That dion has a lot to do with.
This he has to. Write i'm pretty Sure smith And
harmon said it before me on their, show And i'm
sure it's been said all day. Long this like helicopter
mentality Of dion making a phone call because he can
call anybody in the league pretty much at any time
and get his call, answered and to, say hey, Man

i'm watching you. Guys you should put my son in
or the head coach if they struggle a little bit
and should do or is There dion wants to be
the next coach, there and that guy doesn't want to
deal with that kind of pressure over the. TOP i
can understand the you don't want shador as a backup potentially,
argument but there are teams here that should be looking

At Shaduur sanders as a starter unless everything that was
said about him prior to the last three months is.

teams THAT i thought are morons for not having picked him,

get yet another opportunity to take or pass on this.

and they continually passed. On so there's that old adage

showed up and It's Warren, moon and he's got a
jersey for cam that's got the number one on, it
and you immediately, think, wait that number was retired for,
you my, friend and you're, like you're A hall Of,

about this were really kind of. Amazing he, said, yeah you,
Know i'm very, Uh i'm very proud of the work
THAT i was able to put in in THE, nfl
and you, know being in The hall Of fame and

wear my number One Houston oilers jersey, again he, said

love cam AND i watched him play And i'm really
looking forward to seeing what he can do in a

and Cam ward joked and maybe didn't even joke because

Season so they are capable of really coming close to
closing this door and making this a three to one

Lakers because we knew that this was not a particularly

more and then you still get at least fifteen to
twenty From Austin reeves because you're just not getting much
from anywhere else on the. Floor and, defensively The lakers
JUST i feel like they're already slowing. Down and this

ball from the outside that attacks exactly WHAT la wants
to try and shut down LIKE. La WHAT la wants
to do is try to shut you down from getting
to the. Rim even though they weren't able to do
that late in the, GAME i just didn't think THEY
i felt like they were sort of running out of.

and puffing a little. Bit And lebron was, too which

not really a shock just considering how hard he was
playing through the course of the. Game but, basically what
The lakers want to do, is dare you just shoot?

was a bad night for him to have had a stomach,

for more than that. That he was great all night.
Long he had ten boards in a game as, well

Twelve AND i looked back to game one AND i
thought about one of the things THAT i really liked
if you were A minnesota, fan is that on a
night Where Anthony edwards only had what twenty two maybe

of course you feel like he has to be good
for them every. Night he wasn't great for them at

all that, night and they still were able to do
it here in this, game he had twenty, Nine jade
McDaniels had. Thirty j McDaniel's was great in game. One
Julius randall had twenty two in this. Game so you
look at, it what was the efficiency? Here Anthony edwards
was just barely under fifty, percent McDaniels was over he
was thirteen to twenty two from the, field And Julius

randall was just barely under fifty as, well but they
were still pretty. Efficient and Then, nazreed who had a
bad game a bad three, quarters does most of his
damage in the fourth when they need it. Most And
devincenzo hit a three for them in the fourth after
he had kind of struggled throughout the course of the
night as. Well so this is just a team In

minnesota that when they're, hot they can be really difficult to,
beat especially from, three because that is exactly what The
lakers defense is not really built to. Stop they're just
Not and the good news if you're A minnesota fan,
is if you need, It Anthony edwards can shake somebody

there and then you've got a couple of guys that

he had three rebounds and one block in this. Game

ran the way they ran the quarterback room a couple

be doing all you can to give him confidence and

it's the. Opposite and this can stunt, guys and it
can change how good they end up being in terms
of even if they get better and, better even if
you fix the, problem sometimes that actually stops them from
reaching what their potential could have. BEEN i, MEAN i,
HONESTLY i don't know What Trevor lawrence could have been ANY,
nfl and we're never gonna know because that first season

was so bad and it was such a mistake by that,
organization the way that they set up everything around. Him
it was just it was, bad really, bad and now
he's still trying to get out of. It and maybe
we had overvalued and overrated him to start. With that's
certainly a fair question and it's a fair take to.

around him on the sidelines and just the dysfunction of,
that it may have set him back to a degree

he would have gotten to a fifteen and instead he's

frustration and we saw some things that you would want
